Everything You Need To Know About Young Farmer Kushatha Moesi

Everything you need to know about young farmer Kushatha Moesi. Her story is one of determination and focus because she dared to dream and was bold enough to follow her heart into a once thought to be male dominated industry. Moesi is a live stock farmer with a specialty in cattle ranching, whose passion in the farming industry was fueled by her father, also a farmer of note who engraved the spirit of farming in her from a tender age.

The bright 22 year old  manages Lètša Ranch; a 4000 hectares family-owned cattle business where they breed and raise cattle for beef. Her regular routine includes managing the livestock,  patrolling the ranch, maintaining the fence often in jeopardy by elephants in the area and updating pending records; other activities include dipping, tagging, de-horning, castrations, vaccinating, weaning, rotating paddocks. The witty farmer has often responded to questions on her motivation being her duty to prove to her father that girls can take charge in the farming industry. She also seeks to motivate other women to get up and grab farming opportunities by the hand and to shy away from stereotypes that push only men into the filed.
Moesi is the founder and Creative Director for Speckled Egg Farm & Events. Although she is an avid farmer, the young agri-preneur took up her studies in Events Management with Limkokwing University. In an interview with asanteafrika.com Moesi explained that she could not pull out of her new found role in farming but decided to merge the two and engage in agricultural events.  “Every event I attended always seemed to have flaws that stood out, flaws that I knew I could improve or better yet, eliminate, “she said. The future is definitely bright for the young farmer especially in an economy that is rooting for more young people especially women to venture into the agriculture sector for commercial reasons.
