LOOKING INTO THE MASIAN PICS LENS

Taking a deep dive into a creative mind

Identifying and following up on a dream can be challenging for a lot of young people looking at the rate of unemployed young people on the streets. Some are driven by pressure to put bread on the table, and some career path such as being a photographer is not just a job, but a passion.

It requires concentration, creativity, technical skill, and an eye for capturing the beauty in the world around us.  That is the road that Misha Jonas, a 25-year-old photographer, and video illustrator took with a mission to continue honing his creative skills and using virtual effects to capture the wonder of the world around him.

He has by far taken the first step to getting himself known in the local creative industry, by winning an award through the Innovation Hub Competition after creating an app that focuses on financial literacy. He covered events like WhySoSunday, Chillstep Sunday, Gaborone Pride, 90 day transformation challenge.

This young man considers photography to be his first love and passion as he takes great pride in all of his creative work. He studied Graphic Design at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology to specialize in motion graphics and animation. He is now setting himself apart by producing more cinematic virtual work and has gained recognition through his use of social media platforms such as his Facebook page, Masian Pictures, which has over a thousand followers.

Jonas is now looking to expand into short films and other projects as photographers are motivated by the ability to freeze a moment in time and create something that evokes emotion and tells a story.

However, just other photographers, Misha faces challenges being the constant need to stay up-to-date with new technology and techniques, as well as the need to constantly improve his skills. He faces competition from other photographers, and the need to stand out in a crowded market can be challenging. Additionally, the cost of equipment and software can be a significant barrier for many photographers.

“I am now focusing on getting back to creating visual illustrations and how it could benefit my business. I plan to offer services to corporate companies, providing them with unique and creative visual illustrations to enhance their marketing and branding efforts,” he said.

The ability to create visual illustrations allows Misha to offer a wider range of services to his clients, and it also allows him to continue to express his creativity in new and exciting ways.
