MRS. BOTSWANA BREAKS THE RECORD

Welcome back Queen! Boipelo Rusike, Mrs. Botswana 2022/2023 made Botswana proud by participated in the Mrs. Universe which was held in Sofia, Bulgaria and walking away with the Mrs. Universe Famous Award.

The Mrs. Universe Famous award is given to the most interactive, friendliest and the kindest contestant and this year’s recipient was selected by judges, not through the votes as has been the norm. Rusike is the first Mrs. Botswana to set the record to win the award and be in the top 25.

Rusike mentioned during the welcome session that she won the award because of “we have botho and lorato” and was left speechless when she was on the Top 25 out of 120 contestants. The highlight of the pageant was her national costume which was unique and portrayed Botswana’s big five animals which was Montle Rantatane from MET Designs.

“I also liked the fact that the designer shifted from the commonly used leiteisi and letlalo la kgomo,” she said.

She joined the pageant as she was passionate about her family, healthy marriages and women empowerment. Rusike further described a pageant as a way women forge sisterhood, fight gender based violence.
