CHOBE NARROWS ITS WAITING LIST

Chobe Land Board is narrowing its plot waiting list to a zero in half of its villages within its dominion.

The Chobe Land Board chairperson, Mr Johane Chenjekwa said during the press conference that the Land Board has no waiting in the Satau and Parakarungu areas and the Kavimba and Kachikau will join the zero waiting list panel after the land allocation has been complete.

He pointed out villages such as Pandamatenga, Mabele, Lesoma and Kazungula were to assist the people waiting for their plot to narrow the waiting list to a zero, however Lesoma was a pressure area as over 7 000 plot were waiting to be allocated, but the is to be resolved with the engagement of the Ministry of Land and Water Affairs.

Satau has 694 plots which are ready to for allocation, while after this week’s allocations, Kavimba and Kachikau would remain with 373 and 677 readily available plots respectively. He appealed to Batswana to refrain from making land applications in every land boards, but instead apply to their most preferred areas so that land boards could plan better for their waiting lists. He further encouraged the youth to apply for land in the Kavimba, Satau and Kachikau for land is readily available.

Regarding the production of the Secure Land Titles (SLT), Mr Chenjekwa said the Chobe Land Board had a target of producing 6 269 this current financial year against the national target of 49 600.
