WORLD ATHLETICS CONTINENTAL TOUR HITS BOTSWANA

One of the world-followed and celebrated sports Grand Prix is starting its World Tour and Botswana is amongst the list of countries to host the tour.

The city of Gaborone, Botswana is amongst the only fourteen cities in the world and only two in Africa were selected to host the continental tour meet of a Gold status. The track and field meet dubbed Botswana Golden Grand Prix is scheduled to take place in Gaborone, National Stadium on the 29th of April 2023. This will see some of the world’s top athletes on home soil.

A track and field meet on the Gold level is a top tier, which Botswana was awarded the right to host after the successful hosting of the 2022 meeting which was on a bronze level. Botswana Golden Grand Prix formerly known as the Gaborone International Meet was renamed after receiving an upgrade to Gold status by World Athletics. It is an event organized by Golden Door Sports Agency and Botswana Athletics Association.

World Athletics meets are divided into four levels (Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Challenger).
