This Is How Much BW Cabinet Minsters Get Paid A Day

This is how much BW Cabinet Ministers get paid a day. From stylish suits to cruising around the city in luxury government SUVs it’s no secret that Botswana Cabinet Minsters are living the ultimate “soft life” pandemic or no pandemic. But how much do members of the second highest authority in the land really earn?

Before getting into the actual figure, it is important to note that ministers receive all of the following benefits and more;

  • Housing allowance
  • Transport allowance
  • Entertainment allowance
  • Seating (duty) allowance
  • Travel allowance
  • Telephone allowance
  • Communications and hospitality allowances

Following the amendment of the salary bill in 2019 by members of parliament, respective officials saw a hefty boost in their annual gold mine. These increases included a 6% increase for MPs, an adjustment of allowances by 10%, an adjustment of the constituency allowance by a whooping 50%, P450.00 seating allowance for MPs and P600.00 and P500.00 for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the house respectively.

The President receives P 1, 075,056 per year; that’s P82, 696.61 per month and approximately P2 667.63 a day!

The Vice President takes second place earning P 943 032.00 per year; that’s P78 586  per month and approximately P2 535.00 a day!

Ministers receive an annual salary of P724 992.00 per year; that’s P60 416.00 per month and P1 948.90 per day!

These salaries and allowances are just a fraction of what these political leaders earn; most of whom own a chain of businesses including the President of the Republic Mokgweetsi Masisi. This further suggests that their net worth is far more than what government is paying them per minute of their time spent in parliament.
