PRESS RELEASE: HIS EXCELLENCY ALIAN BERSET UNDERTAKES A STATE VISIT TO BOTSWANA

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that His Excellency Mr. Alain Berset, President of the Swiss Confederation, will undertake a State Visit to Botswana, on 6th- 8th February 2023, at the invitation of His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana.

The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Botswana and Switzerland. The two countries enjoy relations having established diplomatic ties in 1967. During the visit, the Heads of State will discuss bilateral, regional, and global issues of common interest. They will also explore possible areas for further collaboration such as in the health, finance, education, manufacturing, minerals, and cultural sectors.

Over the years, Botswana and Switzerland have cooperated in several fields, including education, immigration, trade, and investment. To further build on the existing relations, in May 2022, His Excellency President Masisi, undertook a working visit to Switzerland.

His Excellency President Berset will be accompanied by Mrs. Muriel Zeender Berset, Senior Government Officials, and a delegation of representatives of multinational Swiss companies.
