CREATIVE SECTOR TO BE BOOSTED BY THE NATIONAL ARTS COUNCIL BOTSWANA

During the Andante Chorus 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner in Gaborone, His Excellency President Masisi who was accompanied by The First Lady Neo Masisi, Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture Hon Tumiso Rakgare and other government officials. He mentioned that the government will continue to improve an environment for creatives to succeed.

He mentioned that the Parliament has agreed on the National Arts Council of Botswana Act which will now establish the Botswana National Arts Council of Botswana and it will serve to develop the creative sector in Botswana. The council will also collaborate with Arts and culture associations to tailor commercial deals with individuals across different sectors of the economy.

The Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) have been advised to re-look into their guidelines and adjust them to accommodate for individuals in the creative industry by using their talents to venture into business. This will also allow talented creatives to apply for the CEDA funding grant and open their businesses as a source of empowerment and also a source of employment.
