BOTSWANA PRAISED FOR ITS CONTINOUS WAR AGAINST HIV/AIDS

The Vice President of Botswana, Slumber Tsogwane said during the official opening of the National AIDS and Health Promotion Council (NAHPC) that Botswana is highly praised for continuous war against HIV/AIDS.

The UNAIDS has set a viral suppression target of 95%, and Botswana has surpassed the aimed target by 98% making it one country amongst a few around the world that has achieved the UNAIDS target for HIV testing, treatment and viral suppression.

Eventhou the country is doing everything to fight against HIV/AIDS, the Vice President Tsogwane showed his concerns as there are recent high numbers of Non-Communicable Diseases in Botswana and called the relevant stakeholders to quickly resolve the situation before it further gets out of hand.

The Vice President who is also the Chairperson of NAHPC gave praise to the National AIDS and Health Promotion Agency (NAHPA), the Ministry of Health and other NGO’s in joining hands to raise awareness to teach Batswana about the dangers of NCD’s.

He called everyone to keep a good diet by eating healthy and engaging in physical activities.
