PRESIDENT MASISI PRAISES UNIVERSITY OF BOTSWANA FOR 40 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

Yesterday marked the 40th anniversary for the University of Botswana and it was also celebrating its 40th graduation with the class of 2022

His Excellency the President, Dr. Mokgweetsi Masisi have applauded the University of Botswana for its outstanding performance and continuing to lead with its sustainable innovations and creating solutions which bring benefit to the community.

The University graduated 1092 graduates with different awards and total of 915 were conferred with Bachelor’s degree, 90 Master’s Degree, 4 MPhil, 16 PhDs while 67 got their diploma from the faculties of Education, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences and Medicine Science and the Business, Humanities and Social Sciences are graduating today.

From the multitude that graduated yesterday, Keratile Moses Israel was awarded the University of Botswana 2022 Valedictorian as he was the student who demonstrated overall academic excellence and leadership qualities with a GPA of 4.80 in Bachelor of Arts- Humanities majoring in English African Languages and Literature. He was also awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Price.

During the ceremony in his speech he mentioned that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the University was in the forefront of research, innovation as well as providing expertise and human resources that contributed to the containment of the spread of the pandemic to reduce mortality levels.

He further pointed out that Batswana must be prepared for the technological age and he is confident that the University of Botswana is well on track to prepare them for this. The President stands in full confidence that this years’ graduates will make the country proud given the quality of education they have received from the University of Botswana.
