GIS CELEBRATED FOR ITS EXCELLENCE

After the IGCSE results where released last week, Gaborone International School (GIS) organized a gala dinner in recognisition of the 19 top achievers who of each optained 48 points from their IGCSE 2022 final examination.

The GIS Executive Principal Gerald Hilton praised the students for their hardwork, dedication and resilience which ultimately saw them bear the great honor of being called top achievers. Gracing the Gala dinner was the South-East District Regional Director Peter Choto who was the guest of honor, also gave praise to the 19 stars of the night. He especially gave credit to their parents for their commitment in sowing the great seed of a good education in their children’s lives.

On a more grievous tone, he emphasized concern over drug abuse especially methcathinone, commonly known as ‘cat’ on the streets.

“Despite how hard things get when you are out in the world, refrain from this drug. Parents as well, sometimes we are in denial until these things happen to us. Please be alert and aware of your children’s habits,” he urged.

The brightest star of the night was Alex Mpofu who bagged 6As and 2As. His runner ups were Kitso Tladi and Candice Maswiswi. Mpofu could not stop extending his gratitude to the GIS teaching staff who he says were instrumental in driving him as well as other students to achieve the high level of excellence.

“I am a testimony of the adage which says hard work pays off. I went from being a C student to an A student because I made the deliberate decision to put in maximum effort,” Mpofu said.

The top achiever walked away with a P2 000 voucher while the second and third best students got P1 500 and P1 000 respectively.
