MINISTER MORWAENG ENCOURAGES HOPE

Children with special needs have been assisted with spectacles to improve their vision.

The Minister of State President Kabo Morwaeng mentioned during the handing over of the spectacles to the 49 children with special needs that he is promoting the spirit of giving to the less privileged and those living with a disability.

As he commended the Special Olympics International and Special Olympics Botswana for assisting 49 children with special needs, he further mentioned that the government is head on drafting the Disability Bill which is expected to be presented before the Parliament by 2023.

“This Bill will amongst others institute a National Disability Council and set up a Disability Coordinating Office, and this will enhance the prohibition of discrimination based on disability as well as to promote equal opportunities for persons living with disabilities,” said Minister Morwaeng.

The Special Olympics Botswana Patron Tebelelo Seretse said that communities and the private sector need play their part when it comes to supporting people with special needs, disabilities, and fewer the privileged.
