FAM ANNOUCES EVENT WEEK

Francistown Arts Meeting (FAM) announced to host a week-long event to celebrate art and music with various performances in 2023.

“FAM is quickly becoming the premier visual arts exhibition to look out for, not only for the second city but in the country as a whole,” said the Francistown Deputy Major, Lesego Kwambala.

He explained that visual artists in their various niches could now work with a focus towards having that opportunity to not only showcase, but sell their products to local and international buyers of art.

The curator, Motherk Masire said that visual artists are underappreciated and underpriced for their products despite the beauty the arts represent and time into their work. He further explained that artists in Francistown have had difficulties in the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and honored FAM organizers for having made this year’s event a success despite the challenges they faced that included a lack of funds.

In her welcome remarks earlier on, Francistown District Youth Coordinator, Tiny Gontse challenged the leadership of Francistown to establish a visual artists’ garden where artists could showcase their work as it would help them sell both the local talent to the city and the rest of the world.
