TLOKWEG BOARDER GATE MALL TO EXPAND

A locally owned property firm, Chobe Real Estate is putting out P200 million into the Boarder gate Mall facelift expansion.

The mall was opened by the late Dr. Harry Tlale 17 years ago, the expansion of the mall will bring in more shops and services to the people residing in Tlokweng.

As the mall is expected to be complete after 12 months being constructed under 3 phases, the new mall will include retail shops in the 14,000 square metre area, services will include a mix of health and wellness centres, restaurants, pharmacy, an open amphitheatre and car wash just to mention a few.

Gape Tlale, the daughter of the original mall developer plans to create jobs for Batswana with the project.

“Given the unpredictability of today’s economy, we found it necessary to deliver the project in a three-phase approach, the first phase will be a 5,000 square metre retail space to be completed by September 2023, while the second phase will involve 5,200 square metres of construction to be completed in September 2024. And the final phase will be an aesthetic revamp of the current existing mall so that it blends with phases one and two,” explained Tlale.

Trade and Industry minister, Mmusi Kgafela, said the revamp of the Border gate Mall was in line with government’s drive for a citizen-driven private sector. He said government would continue to create a conducive environment for projects and developments that help economic progress in the country.
