FASHION DESIGNERS GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO SPREAD THEIR WINGS

The Fashion without Borders have been applauded for hosting an events with efforts of giving local fashion designers an opportunity to flourish their brands.

Efigy Productions gave fully funded Internship Training Programme to three young designers who participated in the Fashion without Borders being Thando Piliso of Eastern Cape, South Africa, Tumi Mohoasa of Nguo Design and Lukundo Simpemba of Bantu Gold both from Botswana. They will receive an opportunity to spread their wings from the Internship Programme in courtesy of Mr. Price Group Durban, South Africa.

On Friday, participants had an opportunity to be part of an event which brought together fashion designers and 40 models to showcase their amazing creativity during the Fashion Unpacked Masterclass. The show featured Palesa Molefe, former Miss Botswana Emma Wareus and model and influencer Kagiso Sento as a special guest who participated in the walk solidarity for the good cause of cancer awareness.

Minister of Home Affairs, Ms. Annah Mokgethi praised the organisers for their efforts on growing the fashion industry, she also pointed out that the event was as it was arranged at a time when COVID-19 caused much damage on the nation.

She added that this year’s theme: Fashion Frontiers, aimed to highlight developments that affected both the fashion industry and the community. And she also noted the partnership formed with various companies and sponsors not only to support the event but to raise awareness on breast cancer should be maintained for the future, given the difference it brought to the lives of many.

Mr Price Durban buying manager, Athi Mlilo said when selecting the three, they were looking for the most promising designers that could benefit from learning about the retail processes to add to their own skills.
