MEDIA ADVISORY – BOTSWANA TO RECEIVE ASTRAZENECA VACCINE THIS COMING SATURDAY
The Ministry of Health and Wellness wishes to inform members of the public that the Government of Botswana will receive 101 760 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on 18 September 2021. This will be the first batch of the expected 401 280 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine donated by the Federal Republic of Germany to the Government of Botswana. The balance of 299 520 doses will be delivered in Botswana in the coming weeks.
Currently the vaccination roll out program is at Phase two category, specifically targeting those aged 45 to 54. The arrival of this consignment, and others expected in the coming weeks, means that the vaccination program will soon extend to the lower age groups. Members of the media are therefore, invited to cover the ceremony to receive this consignment at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport on 18 September 2021 at 1415hrs. All members of the media willing to cover this event should send their names to [email protected] and [email protected] or alternatively call 363 2834/2503 for facilitation with airport clearance.
This should be done by Friday 17 September 2021 at 0900hrs.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully
[Signed]
