Here is how Lindiwe Modise’s Green Loop is sustaining the environment through biodegradable products.  Green Loop Environmental Consultants was established in July 2019, in Gaborone, Botswana. The establishment of the consultancy was motivated by the observation of the nations’ minimal knowledge of sustainability and environmental practices.

Green Loop’s team consists of Chief Environmentalist, Lindiwe Modise  (Environomist & Sustainability Specialist),  Molatlhegi Modise (MSc. Seed Technology Senior Agro-Sustainability Consultant) and Ofentse Wena Lesego (BSc. Environmental Science Sustainability). Green Loop products are mainly biodegradable food packaging which include coffee cups and lids, food containers, cup carriers, cutlery and straws. The company further provides consultancy services and assists organisations to comply with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. Taking the role of SHE consultants, daily operations of organisations will have minimal to no impact on the environment as well as on the socioeconomic livelihoods of the communities in which they are situated.

An observation was made of stores still selling plastic bags, used tyres on the sides of the road, people littering from moving vehicles, polluted water streams and landfills filled with unsorted waste, are a few of the environmental challenges Botswana has to combat. Green Loop services connects people with nature, contributing towards conserving the environment and protecting it for future generations to appreciate.
